Weekend in Williamette, OR Wine Country

June 30 - July 3, 2022

Williamette (Dundee), OR

xxx

Every July 4th weekend for the past three years we have gone to a wine region.
First it was Napa/Sonoma, then Paso and this year Williamette Valley (Portland, OR)

Williamette is known for it's Pinot Noirs but also has: Pinot Griis, Gewertz and a half a dozen other grapes.
We knew very little about the region before we went there. And You Tube videos only helped a little.
Before we got on the plane to Oregon we had no must see Wineries. We did desire to see the Spruce Goose in a neighboring town at the Evergreen Air Museum.
The Spruce goose iS a 1945 Howard Hughes built largest aircraft in the world in a local Museum.
I'm ex-USAF so I was interested but we only spent an hour there, we had wine to taste.

We stayed at the Dundee Hotel in the town of Dundee. We highly recommend the Dundee Hotel. They have four tasting rooms in the hotel and a great restaurant.
It was also centrally located around the wineries. ALso there are few other places to stay in the area. This hotel
is of Hilton quality.

We rented a car and though we don't drink drive we did go to one winery, Durant two miles away.
We returned to Durant in the morning when we had a driver we found for $30/hour on Craiglslist.
We took an Olive tour at Durrant. The we proceeded up the hill to White Rose winery, the next winery up the raod.
At Winte Rose we saw this Huge Italian Estate on top of the hill that turned out to be Domain Serene Winery.
We called and got reservations for the next hour. Domaine Seeren has an electronic gate, so you wont just be stumbling in there.
We spent Two hours at Domaine Serene And then went again to the bottom of the hill to a Sokol Blosser Winery recommended by
our hotel xxx. We got there just prior to closing for a flight.

Our second day in Oregon we decided we would go to Columbia Valley region 60 miles to the east.
There we visited three wineries, including Phelps, Marchesi, Stave & Stone well worth the trip for a totally different wine region.

As weekend runaways go it was a great wine weekend.
