Remember as a kid when your parent said wanta go to Dairy Queen. That’s what going to WA Frost is like. Picture a table on the green in Central Park in NYC or a Belair social gathering. Find the best patio in the Twin City and compare it to WA Frost. If it’s even close, I want to know where it is. For summer in the Twin Cities WA Frost as a venue should always be in the top ten. And beyond the beauty the food and wait staff are great.

We have spent the last month at Selby Dale venues, which is block west of the St Paul Cathedral. Other than parking being a beast there are few areas in town to compare. Plus, WA Frost have always been known for its great wine selection. And that is not limited to summers only. The first or second weekend in February when we are seeing our annual ten to twenty below zero. Call us WA Frost and ask them if you can get their thickest Red Zin and sit next to the fire downstairs tell them you can sit next to us.

If you want to take someone out to impress them, get WA Frost reservations. It was a perfect place for me to propose to Ellen. Problem is at the time I knew not of WA Frost at that. That said they are celebrating fifty years in business; how many other restaurants can say that.

So, a couple of weeks ago E reserved our Friday night review for WA Frost. I have always hated their lack of parking, and I am also always reminded they have TWO parking lots. They are located on the corner and a lot is on each of the other two sides. But I parked for free a block away, so it wasn’t bad. And it is the safe part of town.

In an unusual situation E was at a loss of what to order. I eat what is presented to me. So, I did what we should all do at a great restaurant and asked Amber or server what was good tonight. Amber smiled and said I absolute LOVE the Tomahawk Pork Chop. So that’s what we’ll have.

For wine E had the Sonoma Coast Failia Pinot Noir for $20, a winery we visited a few years ago. And I asked Amber between the Luberri Tempranillo and the Nebbiolo which should I choose. We went with Amber’s choice the Tempranillo for 416. Both wines were incredible as we expected they would be.

After that Amber brought us a Bread plate for $13 and a Arugula Salad $15 both of which we split. Finally came the Tomahawk Pork Chop for $46. I don’t remember the last time we ordered pork chops when we went out. And we have Never had a Tomahawk steak. But this one was incredible. And by the time we got done splitting everything but the wine neither of us were hungry. And we still only paid $121 with two wines. Yes, it’s a twenty-dollar bill over our hundred-dollar meal, but in this fairytale setting who knew.
