If there is ever a list of the ten greatest restaurants in the Twin Cities and if WA Frost is not on it, the list is simply wrong. If you desire to impress someone coming to the Twin Cities take them to WA Frost about five blocks from the St Paul Cathedral at 374 Selby Ave.

The area is called Selby/Dale neighborhood by the locals. It reminds me of the Georgetown area in DC. They place has old world ST Paul charm, is safe and quiet and so are the great restaurants in the area.

We go there both summer and winter. In the summer I would argue it may be the best ground courtyard in the Twin Cities. Now we found out the courtyard is divided in two. A burger area and a fine food area. They are together in one fine back yard. But the table next to us tried to order a burger in the fine food are and was told he would need to move to do so. It is NOT a big deal, just know so before you get there,

Winter time we throw on our Tundra Jacket and come to WA Frost. Then we go downstairs next to the wood fireplaces and eat an incredible meal in a place you could hold up for months. I'll tell you how great it is… If E is ordering a THIRD wine we are at WA Frost in February. And THEY have some of the BEST wine in the cities and people that know customer service and wine.

The wine list at is WA Frost vast. We had Tempranillo for $16 and a Nebbiolo for $19 both to die for. And beyond that they were opened at the correct time to breathe adequate before being served. There are too few great food places that know how to do that WA Frost is one of them

We eat at a lot of restaurants and have a lot of different types of food. Mostly we share pasta when we go out because for you we like to try to keep our bill under $100. We recall the tough times when knocking over the penny jar to get gas money to get through the week was the option of choice.

For the first time ever E looked at the menu and she knew in advance what she wanted buy did not see it on their menu. So she explained it to the waiter and said she was really hungry for some feticine yet it wasn't on the menu. So the waiter said let me speak to the cook. In about a minute he returned with a variation of what was on the menu with pasta and vegetables which should be a mainstay of the menu and was incredible with similar charges. The Pesto Pasta ended up being $31 for a plate designed just for us.

Our greatest restaurants are typically a bit more than average restaurants. But we have found out why. Most our restaurant bills are $100 to $120. We usually share an entree both for our waistline and to keep the price down for you. But there is a problem. When we have an incredible experience we will often have desert as happened at WA Frost.
The Butterscotch Pot de Crème, my choice was paired with a sweet Tawny glass of Port wine for each of us. $16 + $13 added $28 to our bill resulting in our $120 bill going to $141. It's ONLY money..

We recommend WA Frost to many and when we tell local people that know restaurants we are going to WA Frost the response is usually Take me along! We'll be BACK!
