Uptown Art Fair

I have been going to the Uptown Art Fair for forty years E & I for a bit more than 30, not missing a year. EVEN the year we got married the day before and closed on our house on Monday… NO STRESS THERE! So, when it was cancelled this year because Uptown was under construction, we got a sinking feeling. What happens if it never returns, like there was talk of that happening to Grand Old Day.
But to our delight one of the old great companies of the Twin Cities came to the rescue. Bachman’s on South Lyndale in Mpls by crosstown mad room for the art fair this year. The fair was not the usual size as one of the largest in the country, but the show went on.
We feared the parking, but Bachman’s put them on a back lot and there was still great parking. Hell, we walked about half the distance we usually do. After cancelling downtown many of the national exhibitors went to other shows. So, most of the booths were local. Kinda like the Powderhorn Art show.
But even though the 2024 Uptown Art fair was only about six rows of about 20 booths a row it was still worthwhile. This year with the more local twist they had much lower priced items the locals could better afford and there was more merchandise walking around then we had ever seen.
The food trucks were very busy, and we had a meal from the Café’ Cairo truck. Sitting next to an interactive bubble exhibit. We of course we will be back next year to celebrate our anniversary and another great Art show.
