Twin City Con
We like going to unusual places and events. Part of the Christmas Season we took a few hours and went to the Twin City Gift expo in the Minneapolis Convention Center. What we found was FAR MORE than we bargained for.
The Gift Expo was fine. But it can be interesting what else is at the Convention Center that day. On this day it was the Twin Cities Con. Billed as a celebration of comics, toys, TV, film, art, cosplay & games. Some might call it a super-hero nerd show. I found it interesting.
There was literal thousands of men & women 18-60 dressed in every costume that the mind could create. We saw superheroes, Star Wars/Trek types, we saw villains & damsels, board pieces our imagination could not grasp all we could see.
We also saw no fights or arguments. Just a bunch of people enjoying their fantasy world. These were mostly tech people having fun. I’m sure during the convention there was computer systems crashing around the world, which would be reset as the convention ended that weekend.
With tickets costing about $75 each I’m sorry we did not enter one of the many halls where the real events were to be held. They had a ton of presentations like explaining the ward drive on a select type of interstellar space craft. You could find them by listening to the shouting about the arguments on how these mythological systems worked.
We had to smile as we walked amongst the characters as we went to the gift expo always scanning the crowd for friends.
If you desire an interesting day, go to it next year. But spend ten minutes walking around the house putting things on and invent your own costume. Look for me next year I’m coming as French Toast man!
