Twin City Tandem Bike Club

We recently purchased a Tandem Electric bike. Last year most Saturday mornings we ride from New Brighton to the Guthrie and go the Mill City Farmers Market Next door. Of course we would buy a doughnut because hey we just rode 10 miles and we deserved a treat. And sometimes we would get produce that would fit on our bike.

We have spent the last few years discovering our area NESW typically up to twenty miles a trip in two hours.

So when we discovered the Twin City Tandem Bike Club we were all in. The first eventfor us was set for mid September and only a couple of miles from our house. All the better.

So we signed up & showed up.  That's not totally true. We signed up and showed up a day early on Saturday. Guess what, no one was there. So we went to the website and decided we were early. A WHOLE DAY early! Who has events on Sunday morning? The TC Tandem Bike Club does!

So the next day we arrived at the correct time and met our gracious hosts. There was about 25 people there for the event. Most the people were over 50, as are we. Most had standard tandem biles, though there was a few singles. Most had standard bikes but there was a handful of us that had electric bikes.

This was spot luck event so we had doughnuts and bagels to start the ride. After the ride we had a nice potluck dinner. 

We started the ride about 9:30 and traveled through: New Brighton. Mounds View, Arden Hills, Shoreview, North Oaks through some of the most incredible scenery in the metro. We mostly traveled on Bike trails and occasionally on the roads. It was a 25 mile trip.

The group rode at about ten mph and we someone checking that no one fell out of the group from the back. 

We stopped a couple of times and hours and had a bathroom break after about an hour. 

People were very friendly and it was Great day cycling.
After the ride we all joined in a great pot luck lunch before we parted. It sounds like next year they hope to have a ride a month. We'll be there!
