We rarely go out to bars and clubs. There was a time we never even went out until 10P now we are in bed. But E learned of Stargazer, which opened in the fall of 2024 that was a club/restaurant combined in the Nordeast known for great cuisine so we thought we/you would be interested in us reviewing it.
We went last night. Stargazer shares a wall, or at least is in the same building as Vinai the great restaurant we took you to last fall in September. They are on the corner of 2nd St NE & 13 Ave NE. Kitty corner across a block to the great McDonalds on the corner of University and Broadway. It is located near places we have ate at and reviewed including: Vinai, Dianes Place, Hai Hai, Minari, Young Joni, Anchor Fish & Chips, 1029 Bar, Elements Pizza, and a few places on our plans including: Oro, AltBurger.
Stargazer bill themselves as intimate intergalactic Cocktail Bar in the Nordeast. And it truly is. The appetizers are created by the Chef-owners of Travail Kitchen & Robb Jones who owns the Meteor Bar. They specialize in small plates food which we love, and the small plate selections were incredible. Their hours Tue-Thurs 4-11, Fri-Sat 4-Midnight.
Stargazer have limited reservations and ours were for 7:15PM. By 8PM the place was packed. Small plate apps are $10-16, we had four of them, drinks mostly under $20 we had two recommended by our server. The Mushrum $17 Funky Earthy Umani Old Fashioned which E liked and the Gratuitous Nudity $17 Herbacious and refreshing Almost Famous: Träkál Patagonian Spirit, Yellow Chartreuse, lemon, Cocchi Americano, (It was red with fruit on it) that I had. E & I made a pact to not drink wine at places that don’t normally serve it. And no more wine from a can! When we mentioned wine, our server cringed so mixed drinks would be the order of the night.
Stargazer offer a Four course Date night Option: $38 Salad, Starter, Pasta, Desert which we were looking forward to. Now had we read their website we would have realized those are exclusively available on Tuesday & Wednesday nights. Thursday specials they have a few drinks under $7. We spent $30 taking the grandkids to Wendys, $38 date night plus drinks and you don’t even need to wash dishes… That’s pretty reasonable for food from a Chef!
One of the things that attracted us to Stargazer is the bloodlines it is from. It’s sister restaurants to Stargazer include Travail, Pig Ate My Pizza & Nouvelle Brewery, Graze Food Hall, Dream Creamery, Italian Eatery, not a bad lineup.
We had heard of the Horsehoe shaped bar where we sat with about 18 other people. Stargazer also have booths and a community table to seat another 20. But all eyes turn up with stars on the ceiling. It’s a cool place.
E ordered four small plates to feed us at the bar. French Fries $9 Regular which E tells me were twice fried and spectacular. Apple Salad $9: Gruyère, Parm, chives, lemon, EVOO which were toothpick sized pieces of fresh apple. Two-Sheet Lasagna (Due Sfoglia) $13
Spinach & artichoke ricotta, sun-dried tomato vinaigrette, Parm which E absolutely RAVED over, I liked the fries… And Pizza Sticks $11: Italian Sausage, pepperoni, pizza cheese, lumpia and pizza sauce which were incredible. The Pizza Sticks are shown in our pictures but are not on Stargazer’s website yet.
Stargazers is located across the street from a church, since they only have black lettering on their black entrance door in case you are looking for it, we missed it as we drove past it slowly once. I parked for free just around the corner which was nice.
Stargazer is a fun place but go before 8PM on Friday and have a reservation. They open at 4pm. Our bill was AMAZING at $81 for two custom drinks and four delicious small plate food options. Those that say two of you can’t go out for drinks and food for under $100 needs to read more of our reviews! Of COURSE we‘ll be back!
