St Mary's Greek Festival ToDoTC.com To Do in the Twin Cities Restaurants
We go to the St Mary’s Greek Festival every year. St Marys is the Gold domed church on the east side of Lake Calhoun or Bde Maka Ska (which I can’t remember or pronounce).
St Marys is a Greek Orthodox Church. They have Greek Food and customs. If you have never had Greek you will learn about eating lamb a delicacy for the world. If you go in with an open mind the entire event is incredible. The parishioner of St Marys bring their church, food and customs to us once a year on this weekend celebration.
You need to accept you are going to walk 3-4 blocks from where you park, but this is the safe part of town so you will be fine. Or go at noon either way it’s a great time and an introduction to a different part of the world and culture.
E and I spent two weeks on the Mediterranean last year with two days in Greece. This after we spent a night at the Wayzata yacht club talking about sailing the Greek Islands for two weeks.
The St Marys Greek festival is always the weekend after labor day. There is another Greek festival at a St Paul church which is worthwhile too.
We support the area churches and festivals, you should too!
