We have gone to two or three wine tastings hosted by Marcus Hanson. Marcus works for Small Lot wine sales. Which is a company that find great small vineyards around the world.

You can find his events on eventbrite website and app. Tonight's Spanish wine event cost us $30 each.

What makes Marcus events worth the extra $30 you would not pay at a free wine event?

First of all it is a two hour event that you get to sit down, not belly up to the table.

Second you get a two-three once pour instead of just enough to cover a quarter. And again you are sitting not pushing your glass through a small table of people that won't leave the front of the tasting table… all about them.

With Marcus's event there is a good supply of wine pairing food. That is common if you are paying for a tasting anywhere.

And you get to find out about the winery, village and culture for each wine over perhaps ten minutes a wine much better than the two sentences you will get at a free event. In a word: better wine & presentation And more relaxing.

So the theme was Spanish wine. For rose that know the area Riola region. That mean river for the Ebro river that goes through the region in the Basqque region of Spain.

Marcus sings opera and does so between wines. He also knows his history and how many Operas were written about Spain. Including Man From a Manca (Dream The Impossible Dream) which his performance was incredible.

Marcus spent a week or so in the region recently. He told us about the Michelin restaurants in the area. Local wineries, wine shops and food of the people. And how wine fit into thee region. Including one family that has been bottling wine since the 1500.
