In any list of great bars and places to eat in the Metro The Hewing Hotel and their bars & restaurants would be in the top ten. We love the place. The people are always nice. For us it is convenient, next to North Loop Wine & Spirits, Monte Carlo, Runyons, JD Hoyt, the Target Field oh and Sex World. You know what I'm talking about.They have the BEST Burgers there!
So after the funeral of a fellow Wayzata Wine Club member we needed a place to eat and the Hewing was on the top of the list. So our group of four couples walked into the Hewing at 5:30PM on a Friday with no reservations and we found a nice area with couches & chairs that made us all very comfy with the downtown skyscape.
We all had wine and shared meat & cheese plates. Our waiter was nice enough to split up our bill for us withoout asking. With some other places you would think we were asking him to cure cancer. But Hewing is a great place with nice people.
Our bill was just under $100. Yea a bit pricey but I can't think of a better venue for that night. It was great!
One note the downstairs regular bar/restaurant is closed for upgrade but the Skybar is open, a great place to eat & have fun.
