Tonight we are at Rincon 38 known for Spanish Tapa. Tapas are small foods typically on a chip or something 44vsimilar. The TAPA was placed over a glass of wine to keep the flies out their wine in Spain. Tapas are still small foods without the chips.
We came here in 2019 before the world changed it was very good then and now.
One great thing this place does, is offer a TASTE of wine at 3 oz and $4 or a glass for $12. So after our six wine tasting earlier at North loop we will try six more here and STILL barely drink a glass.p.
So E broke her usual and had a Lllanca Plana made with Carignane, Grenache & Montsant. I had Gota De Arena with Tempranillo & Castillo. Both were good.
For the first appetizer we had Potatoes Brava with Baby Potatoes, asparagus, Pimentos & red wine. It was great, as everything was.
For our second appetizer we had Queso Frilla Fried Mach-ego cheese with Fennel Straw. It tasted like my grandmas Potato pancakes with cheese in the middle… amazing.
For our third appetizer we had Pipirrana: Vine ripened tomatoes roasted peppers fried goat cheese, onion marmalade with 12 year old balsamic reduction. Looked as a great we it tasted.
Our Fourth Appetizer was Gambia's al Ajillo. Traditional Spanish Prawns sautéed in Garlic Pimento wine sauce for $15.50 it was good. One reason we are here is The MN Wine Club we run is having our Spanish Tasting tomorrow night and E is going to make this. I thought it was good but not great.
The second round of wine tastes I had a wine called Blau with Manuela, Syrah & Garnacha. E had a Muriel Reserva with Tempranillo that E called amazing and sad she could not drink the Reserva every night.
Our final app/tapa was Carne Brava. A Pimento beef tenderloin with Oysters, mushrooms & asparagus. I haven't ordered steak when we go out in more than two years because few can match a Morelli steak on our 8' grill. This was very good.
We were here three years go, this time it is amazing. We got reservations for 7:30 Friday night two days before.
Our bill was $118 with Four wines and four appetizers/Tapas. We thought Rincon 38 is one of the best restaurants we have been to in months and better than 2019, give it a try.
