Pedro's del Este
Tonight we are at Pedro del Este
426 2nd St, Hudson, WI 54016
A Caribbean Restaurant a Block from the center of downtown Hudson. We are a block east of the Main Street. Two blocks away is the Welcome to Hudson Marina sign.
To drive past this place you would never know the beauty someone put into the patio, the flowers and colors are amazing.
We expected small plate cuisine, looking at the menu we thought it might be Mexican but they call it Caribbean. Call it what they want it is a cool place.
We had reservations for 7 PM. By to look at the reservation table we were perhaps the only ones to make reservations, most the crowd seemed more walk in.
Which is perfectly fine. We hate waiting for a seat. We made reservations online, changed them online and we were texted an hour before we sat down if we wanted to sit outside. And when we arrived our table was ready. This is a well run small town enterprise. Twin City Restaurants you could learn a thing from this small town restaurant.
We knew little about Pedro's del Este before we came here. The wine list, though small has at least one of everything and at about $10. E had her Cab and I had a Tempranillo. Both wines were very good. The pours were very good.
We started with house chips and three salsas: Charred tomato habanero salsa, salsa Verde, Ancho Tomatillo Salsa. It was a great start.
Then we had Adobo Shrimp Salad: Seasoned Shrimp, quinoa, arugula, corn, chimichurri, Cotija & Cilantro. It was an interesting salad with great spiced shrimp.
In the last few years some incredible chef figured out how to use Flank Steak a lesser cut. That was one of our two entrees and with a green sauce it was amazing without destroying the Ketchup is the most spicy I do Midwest attitude. Besides the green sauce it was very good spicy flank steak.
The food was good so we treated ourselves to desert… not a great decision… it was just ok.
Our servers Cheyenne did a great job and we had food & wine a few minutes after sitting in our table that was ready for us with our reservation.
Don't go to Pedro's del Este and expected Spoon & Stable food, its is a good Caribbean restaurant to take friends at a reasonable price, our bill with two wines, chips and two entrees & desert was $61 for two of us. Double what we paid for drive through McDonald's with no wine!
It's a great summer patio dining experience! We'll go back!
