Ollie’s
Part of our ToDoTC discovery is looking for interesting things on Facebook and that is exactly how we found Ollies. It was described as an eclectic place to get good deals on interesting things. So, E&I went on a dreary rainy day.
Ollies is easy to find. Head toward Maplewood Mall. Take 61 south a mile to Beam Ave, turn east on Beam Ave and after the hospital look for the strip mall on your left. They have a sign at the strip mall entrance. It’s just off Beam Drive.
How does one describe Ollie’s? If you have ever been to an outlet mall, you will be at home. They have everything from: Art, power tools, laundry detergent, kids’ toys, paint, greeting cards, candy, clothes and a whole lot more. In a situation like this I just walk the aisles and take pictures. I took 91 pictures in the twenty minutes we were there.
Did we buy anything? Nope. We make a weekly run to Menards, Cub and sometimes Walmart so we had no immediate needs. The prices seemed cheap but not worth fighting over like Black Friday. I was going to buy Halloween Candy but one never knows how old it is. E & I argued if they had brand names, but closer examination revealed: Snickers, M&M and many name brands.
We suspect Ollies is a retailer that buys up store closures and end of inventory stock. I enjoy walking through simply to see what’s around the corner.
Ollies have been open just a few weeks. If you have an hour to spare start YOUR Treasure hunt.
