Bottle Shock
For the past two years we have been doing a monthly movie night with The MN Wine Club we own. This year the theme is Wine Movie. In June we did the movie Sideways. About 20 people, 20 wines and a dozen appetizers, outside on our back deck with a 20' screen eating, drinking, meeting others and watching and interesting wine movie. We all learned and tried several wines.
Last month we had showed the movie Sideways with an Australian food & wine tasting. In September we are showing Sour Grapes.
This month we are showing Bottle Shock with appropriately California wine and food tasting.
There are about 20 of us on our back deck over looking our park. Food, wine and a movie for the next two hours.
Bottle Shock is a great tru movie it's the story of how Napa wines got interenational known and won a French tasting.
It stars Bill Pullman: The president in the 4th of Independence Day movie and Alan Rickman: Hans Gruber that took over Die Hards Natatomi's Plaza.
Right now we hope to bring back events next year. But we may charge $5 each becausae of the classless noshows.
Our July wine movie was Bottle Shock. The problem is it rained as the 7 PM start date arrived. We moved the entire group inside and watched it on our 60" Hi Def TV. The wine/app theme was California Wines & App. We had a great selection.
I make sure I have names and occupations, not where you work, for name tags. It means we don't need to introduce ourselves and it's much easier to meet people. We also do not spend time on describing each wine. We leave it up to each individual to read the lable. Also most people either have or learn about the free Vivino app. It tells us pages on each wine.
The food is always incredible. E always spends $100+ at Surdyk's for cheese that always appreciated.
The movie was very good the next movie is September 17th and is called Sour Grapes. About Someone who sells wines he mixes in his apartment and sell it as expensive wine.
There is no cost charge to attend The MN Wine Club events. We have events most months. We typically go to 3-4 wineries a year and 3-4 movie events a month. We have three rules: Sign-up, Show-Up and don't be a pain in the A--. More information is available at www.TheMNWineClub.com
