Martina brings the best that Argentinian cuisine has to offer in an energetic Linden Hills eatery
We have been going to about 40 restaurants a year for the past 3-4 years. Martina is in our top ten. One of the best engineered restaurants with great wait staff, wines & food at an acceptable price. Worthwhile checking out!
There are few times we walk into a place and after a quick look I say this place will be GREAT. Martina is one of those.
Coming from the Medical Electronic industry we all learn the first week about Antechambers. It's the two doors at the entrance to a clean room or for restaurants so everyone doesn't get a -40 breeze every minimal as a new guest enters.
Last week at Tilias, no antechamber this week an all glass antechamber and this its a warm dining experience... bravo!
I'm obsessed with bathrooms. They have THREE of them here. And they are WCs the British for Water Closets. You argue about the 319 genders all you want. THREE people can go at once be they: Male, Female or PAT. And they had a changing table in each and 100 rolled wash clothes to dry your hands. Simple & functional, it might be the best bathroom in town.
Next the Decore of this place was another engineering masterpiece. The ceiling is 20' high beams, you can hear and talk... phenomenon! And they have the usual bar and kitchen you can watch the magic.
All this and we have yet to be seated. The wooden floors, tables & chairs and ample space is in a word inviting.
The wine list though small was adequate for us. E had a Cab Sav from Chile It was one of the best we have tasted in a long time. I had a Tempranillo which was good.
So we started with a very fresh Caesar salad with anchovies. We split an order and what we each got would have been a full order anywhere else. The hard crust bread basket equaled any basket in the TCs.
For the main entree we split spaghetti with Lobster sauce. It was good & an interesting flavor. Red sauce with a lobster bite is unusual and good.
We thought about and don't remember a recent dining experience that across the board was this good.
The bill was a few dollars over $100 if you take out our 3 $20 you could not leave Applebee's for much less.
Obviously Martina is in our top ten and like Skybar our #1 a regular annual visit as well.
