We pride ourselves in trying a lot of restaurants no one else might venture into. So, when The Mandalay Kitchen, Burmese food in the Rondo neighborhood we were on the edge of going. But E&I both like pushing the edge, for YOU of course. Would we go after 10PM on a Saturday Night, I don’t think so. But it is a memorable experience, you may want to ask about if we ever meet.
Mandalay Kitchen is similar to any small run restaurant in the city. Don’t expect any James Beard food awards hanging from the walls, but that doesn’t mean it is not interesting, tasty food. We had fairly common dishes with egg rolls and noodles, the meal with wine was $75. It was good but not great. If you desire to try something different at the BEST Burmese food, we have ever had in the Twin Cities give Mandalay Kitchen on University within the view of the capital on University a chance.
