Tonight we are at Macanda in Wayzata on Lake Minnetonka next to one of our favorite places on the lake Six Smith. Macanda is a new upscale Latin American Restaurant. If you are looking to try an unusual type of Tequila this place has dozens of them.
Being as we are downtown Wayzata we felt safe. And as expected there are no parking issues. That said they have Valet parking for $10. Which if we were in Mpls we would have taken.
Tonight is Black Friday. On most Fridays we always go to a free six wine tasting at North Loop Wine & Spirits first. Tonight North Loop did not have a tasting so we showed up thirty minutes early for our 7:30 reservation. As expected with Wayzata Class we were promptly seated.
If I have one complaint on the night it was the size of the font on the menu. The prices are not bad with most entrees under $30 but the menus are in about size five font. A picture shows three lines in the width of a knife, we own a magazine... use the white space.
The wine list is adequate. E had two glasses of a nice Cab Sav from Mendoza $38/total and I had a Tempranillo $14 which was equally good.
Then we ordered a queso plate $14, a shrimp Taco $15 which was very interesting and good, a salmon plate $32 and a $14 Orange desert. All the food and wines were very tasty.
As one might expect at a new place in Wayzata the bill was a bit higher than we are used to at $147. That included a 4.5% employee surcharge which we all have different feelings about.
We may be back this summer to sit on their incredible patio that over looks Lake Minnetonka.
