The greatest quote I ever heard of a grocery store was from a Millionaire Viking player who was traded to another NFL team. He was asked what he would miss MOST about the Twin Cities and Minnesota. He said there is no question I’m going to miss Lunds/Byerlys the most! That is the PASSION people have for Lunds Byerlys.

If we still had one in New Brighton I am sure E would still do her weekly grocery shopping there. There was a elderly lady there that would look after our toddler son while E shopped that we passionately called Grandma Lund. The Lunds/Byerlys grocery stores of the Twin cities are like none other.

If you are looking for a full service top of the line grocery store, Lunds Byerlys is your choice in the Twin Cities.  From the Cheeses, meats, produce, breads and more to the loading in the back of your vehicle for you no one is comparable.

I’ll take you on my brief walk through as seen by my pictures. Just after the entrance if the flowers, cheeses and prepared foods area. You can buy a weeks worth of prepared lunches of 50 different dishes there. There is cheese fit for most events, only Surdyks and France 44 cheese shops have a better selection.

You can buy fifty different things by the container in the deli. E & I eat our share of Olives. They had sixteen types on display fresh. I saw a red olive that was in fact a pepper that tasted like an Olive. I was told how to get a sample for free. We ended buying a few.

Next come the meat counter. Pick a fish, meat, cut and they will either wrap one u for you from the display case or cut it for you. We have tried their brats, steaks normal and Wagyu, burgers, several things on stick, salmon, crab. All were good. Usually our Easter & Christmas Ham comes from Byerlys.

Then on to the produce. They have five kinds of tomatoes five kinds of potatoes if it’s available in most places in the world Lunds Byerlys will have it and be of great quality.

On to the dairy with a dozen kinds of milks. Same with the Bakery anything you have seen in style magazines, they’ll have it.

At checkout THEY BAG your groceries and will put them in your car for you.  Oh and they have a bank and florist too! Even if you don’t plan on buying anything you should at least walk through and see what the Viking player will miss.
