One of the great things about doing reviews is finding great little places you see all the time but don’t realize the gems they are.
We ride our tandem electric bike to downtown from On Old Hiway 8 in New Brighton to the Mill City Farmers by St Anthony Falls. On our ride the other day we noticed the building that was once a brewery is now a new restaurant called Leela’s On 8. We are always looking for new places and this close to home why not?
So last Friday we went to Leelas and just like great small business people we have met over the years the place had energy and the staff bent over backwards to make sure we had a good meal.
We had a GREAT pasta meal after a steak bites appetizer. I have a review for that trip. But it gets better. Nickolas our server said we are
glad you could give us a chance to serve you. Something you might be interested in. Sunday nights at 7PM we have FREE comedy sets. E & I looked at each other and said, we normally just sit on our deck watching TV in the summer. Why not go to Leelas?
So Sunday night at 6 we were sitting on our deck watching the 25 Goslings us/Menards are feeding. At 7 we were at Leelas drinking wine and watching a FREE comedy show. Nickolas our host said THANK YOU for returning for tonight.
We ordered steak bites again but this time with an order of French Fries. Our Bill for dinner Friday night was $65. Our bill for Steak bites, Fries and wine was $35 PLUS we got to support some young comics.
Were we busting a gut laughing? Nope but these guys probably had less than an hour of stage time. Remember little leagues? That’s where we were. There was a host and two comedians that probably had less than an hour stage time and a final comedian who actually got PAID other times to be a comedian.
Was it worth $15 a ticket? NO, but with steak bites, fries and wines we paid $30 it was a fun evening and worth every penny. Next Sunday they will have FREE comedy again and we will probably be there. Take an hour and join us. Other than your food & drinks, Don’t Cost Nuth’N
