Garage Floor

We bought the last house built on the block. We are at the bottom of a hill. There was a runoff stream that ran through our garage. Building houses did not divert the previous water flow. Because of this we had a garage floor that water would come up from through the cement. After a strong rain we would see a puddle of water in the middle of the garage that came through the cement.

Because of this the garage floor was not flat. It was pitted. Pits that would be over an inch deep. I had an idea to rent a cement saw and cut an 18” square in the cement. In that square I would dig the sand and dirt three foot deep. In that 18” square three foot deep I filled it with Lava Rock. The Lava rock gave a place for the water to go into the lava rock that was full of holes. It worked, so I cut two more holes. I had to cut two holes three feet apart because water chose to go through cement instead of flowing three feet to lava rock. After three holes full of lava rock the water stayed below the floor.

So we contacted Innovative Garage Flooring to put an epoxy coating on the garage after they fixed all the pitting. They worked on our garage about four half days to prep the floor and epoxy it. we had to get everything off the floor for a week. We went to the Fair one of the days. They supplied their own power and everything including their own restroom.

There was two guys for four days. When they finished, even today I would in a heartbeat EAT off that floor. It costed us $4500 for a 2.5 car garage and we are nothing but happy with it. We had to keep the cars off the garage floor for seven days. We did it in August about Fair time so it was no big deal. There was a bit of smell in the garage but nothing inside of the house. As you can see it looks incredible. And is totally flat and easily cleaned.
