Movie Time

E & I don’t go to many movies. But we have a granddaughter who had a birthday and wanted to see the movie “Hopper.” I’m at home for the time being so we decided to go to a 1PM movie. We went online and ordered tickets. The tickets were at AMC theater we picked our seats and never saw the charge on our account or got a receipt for the order. So we had No idea if we had seats.

So, we chose a theater we could walk-in the theater. It was the 18 screen Marcus Cinema in Oakdale by Fleet Farm. For four of us it was $58 to get in, about $15 each for two seniors and two under ten. Long gone are $20 for two seats, a popcorn, pop and a snuggle. Oh I forgot popcorn and pop, add another $60, that’s $120 for a first run kids movie.

When we go out to eat we try to keep it under $100, so most people can afford $25 a week for a fun monthly out. Looks like movies are more expensive. And the real kicker is a week later, OK it was a week AFTER our granddaughters birthday the movie was on Prime for about $5. But it was her birthday, so it was a treat.

The place had a full bar which when you think about it was a great idea. Parents drop their kids off for a movie they have no desire to see. Sit in the bar and watch the game on a big screen. $200 later your baby sitting is complete.

All the seats were assigned including online so you could pick a seat up front or in a corner away from everyone. The quality of the heated recliners were the best.

The movie Hoppers, not so much. When the early animated movies came out there was two scripts. One for the kids and one written at a different level for the parent humor. Great writing is in need. No parent humor in this kids movie.

It was an afternoon with the grandkids and we’ll leave it at that. Wonder what will be new next year?
