Some friends from the Wayzata Wine Club told us about this great restaurant near Holman St Paul Airport. Since I’m ex USAF I was curious and E goes with my curious. Holman’s Table is not BY the St Paul Airport it is IN the St Paul Airport. When I say IN I mean you can step off your plane and walk 50 feet to your table. Last time we were here E said it was a great view but she expected more planes. Just then a plane came about 100 feet over us on a landing final. The entire restaurant shook and broke out in laughter. It was cool!

Now if a plane DOES taxi over and people get out, stand up and walk over to the gate and see who it is. A LOT of bands and VIPs fly into St Paul instead of trying to land at MSP. Your odds of seeing a celebrity is probably better than anywhere else in the metro. We always go out Friday night at 7PM after our weekly Friday night wine tasting at North Loop. But few celebrities come in Friday night after 7PM. If you are taking kids, don’t tell them and take them to a Saturday Brunch it goes from 9A – 3PM. Let them sit their looking at the airport as a plane flies in just overhead, you will get a look!

The Skybar has closed on the Corner of 7th & Hennepin. Skybar without question was our favorite outdoor food venue. We would sit on the third floor at Skybar, watch Hennepin Ave and when the cops came we’d hold back from yelling “we saw him it’s the guy in the blue shirt. Like watching the Cops TV show Live. With a three story buffer to the issues of Hennepin Ave. Holmans Table though not on Hennepin is a heck of a view.

What kind of restaurant is Holmans Table? They have food and drink to match anything upscale in rest of the Metro. And people come in all dress styles, but no tore blue jeans. It’s in all our top ten lists. It’s fun. And Free SAFE parking across the street. The wine list? There are THIRTY wines by the glass and a FULL bar which includes a piano bar, which was active when we were there. E ordered a Austin Paso Cabernet a winery we toured when we were in Paso Robels, CA $15, it was great. I had a good Jardin Noir again great $14. After our pasta dinner we shared a glass of Famigila Rivetti Nebbiolo Great Italian wine for $18.

The menu also is huge. With everything from Walleye to a Waygu Burger. We started with a Charcuterie plate for $19 which we ate for thirty minutes and could not finish. Then we shared a Caesar Salad which came as three salad rolls, something we have never seen but it was very good. Then we had a bread basket for $10 which though great again we did not finish. Finally we had Garganell Pasta for $26.

Some people ask why we don’t order two entrée’s. Holmans Kitchen is a perfect example. The portions were great size to split. And had we not absolutely needed the last great glass of Italian Nebbiolo we would have left some of every serving and been under $100 WITH WINE to feed both of us a great meal with a bit of every course left. Our wastelines thank us for what we left on the table.

Bottom line our bill was $124 including the extra glass of wine and taxes. What a great place to eat. Without question this is a summer annual. We LOVE it!
