So tonight we are trying something different. Like last week eating on a riverboat wasn't different. Tonight we are at Holmans Table. For my non-aviation readers, I'm ex Air Force, Holman's Table overlooks Holman Field, (St Paul) Airport.
E just said I guess this field is not very much used. Just then a Lear Jet landed over her shoulder… cool as hell. As we sit a chopper is taxing for takeoff. It's 6:15 on a Friday night we are getting an incoming about every 15 minutes.
If you are looking for an interesting place to take a date or kids, Holmans table has to right near the top.
So we started with wines tonight both of us are drinking from Napa. E a Cab and I ordered at Merlot. Good pours and my Merlot is exceptional, the Cab is very good.
For an appetizer we ordered Charcuterie plate which is usually fun and tonight was too. For $17 you got sausage & prospiutto, Green & black olives, two cheeses including a toothpick with two mozzarella cheese balls with brown caramelized sauce, pickles, raspberry preserves mustard & almonds with bread.. a great starter.
We shared an Bucatini pasta entree. We were warned ow spicy it is but E agreed to suffer. We start with Penne Pasta, add Ricotta cheese and Arabiata sauce ( which is made from Garlic, tomatoes, red chili peppers cooked in olive oil). The recipe come from thee city of Rome in the Lazio region.
The pasta warmed the tongue and was very good. A couple of steps up from the number one spice in MN Ketchup.
The bill was a very reasonable $88 but we did not order much: 2 wines, one app & one entree'. Will we come back, most definitely but we only saw three planes land. We want a busier time! LOL
Izzy was our waitress and she did a great job.
