Tonight we are at the French Meadow Bakery Cafe
They have been open for over 30 years. They specialize in: Vegan, Gluten Free & Vegetarian since the 1990s. They also have a great selection of (green) sustainable wines and local beers.
We are not big Veg people but we like unusual food and out son & daughter-in-law (her being Gluten-free) love the place. Everything on their menu is under $27 and includes: salmon, walleye, tacos, reubens, burgers of kinds, soups and a ton of vegetarian selections.
The Bluestem Bar is a good sized room can serve 100 people
For wine Ellen had a Estancia Cab Sav from Paso Robles and I ordered a Sangiovese from Tuscany. Both were good pours.
We ordered a Chipotle Chèvre Quesadilla. I am used to cheese between two tortillas zapped in a microwave, this one is AMAZING! This had black beans, chicken, tomatoes, onions they call pico de Gallo 100% sprouted organic Tortilla. Anyway it was great.
We shared a side salad. With mixed spring greens, tomatoes, carrots, beets and sunflower seeds with a Balsamic & vinergette dressing.
Finally we ordered an Almond Encrusted Walleye with organic garlic mashed potatoes with asparagus & Pesto
Tonight unexpectedly was a festival of taste. It's a new addition to our top ten our top ten. And thank you Riley our great waitress!
