We have eaten at Cossettas several times. It is St Paul’s quintessential Italian Restaurant. With their several ways to order buffet, walk through, order your own, and the upstairs restaurants it is a very popular place. We have always had good food and service there. And they’re in lies the problem, will it be great next time.

So we made reservations for Friday night. One of the problems with Cossettas is parking. If you get lucky like we did it is free in back of the restaurant, because finding a place next to the Hockey arena, whatever we are calling it today, is not always easy. But we were fine, we parked in Cossettas free lot.

The signage could be better but soon we took the elevator to third floor for the sit down restaurant. It has a great view, tunes, staff, food & wine.

To truly do a good job at evaluating restaurants you need to know a lot of different foods and we have our basic 20. But you know and like those twenty. Earlier in the evening we agreed we would start trying what the waitress recommended. In this case it was Chicken Parmesan. Something we would never order off the menu.

I totally get the concept of letting the waitstaff recommend something to eat. It might be very good, they may be trying to get rid of something. But the Key here is it is not something we had experience with and it would be a surprise. Surprizes are great, except when they are not. But then we just call it a learning point. E wanted to not go back I shrugged it off as the stars lined up against us.

Our bill was $97 which is where we like to be. Our wines E had a Gls Prelius Acb from Tuscany for $19 and I had a Brancaia Tre from Tuscany for $16 both were good. We had traditional bread and olive oil, always good. And their Crab Cakes for $23 which is to die for.

So our recommendation is go, just order something you like, like we usually do.
