I arrived in the metro in the early 80s. One of the first places I went and went monthly was Como Park a wonderful FREE place to go in the North Midway area about a mile east from the state fairgrounds. Como Park is a 384 acre park/Facility that is a jewel of the Twin City. It is a great place to go for anyone 1 to 100. It is a great date place, E & I have gone hundreds of time, our son took his dates there and now we are taking our grandkids there.
Como Park is much more than a park, that said there are about 100 acres to picnic and have fun. E & I flew her first kite there. We have gone swimming at their pool, one of the few outdoor pools in the metro. We regularly go to their Zoo and Conservatory. They have 2.3 miles of trails. A walk around Como lake will take an hour of your time and well worth it and YES they have free parking. They also have a restaurant and will have a number of art events there.
They also have a 18 hole golf course and a miniature golf, an amusement park for the kids and in the winter even a ski & tubing hill. If you haven’t been to Como Park lately you need to take some time and see it again.
