Ellsworth Cheese Curd Days

If you have ever had squeaky cheese, which some people call Fresh Cheese curds you know it is one of the delicacies in life. If you are buying cheese curds at the grocery store locally it probably came from Ellsworth, WI.  In my youth I worked at a cheese factory in WI, so I have had my share a fresh cheese curd. I enjoy fresh curds.

The city of Ellsworth WI, an hour from the metro, every year has a cheese curd festival. This year we went. Don’t Cost Nuth’n! We saw a sign as we entered town that said free parking at the High school and free shuttle to the festival. They were well organized and ten minutes after we parked, we were downtown at the festival. We didn’t walk a block total.

Ellsworth throws a nice party. Plenty of booths, security, restrooms and places to sit. The only problem is a LOT of people like cheese curds. Remember I said we don’t wait in lines. Well, the lines for cheese curds at the Festival DWARFS any food line at the MN State fair. I swear there was two lines for the one huge cheese curd booth, and each were a city block long.

Since we don’t do lines, we found a burger & fries $5 each they had brats with cheese in them and sat down to eat five minutes later as we watched the cheese curd line barely move.

All the food good and not very pricey. We stayed about an hour or so and made our ways back to the Twin Cities.
