Day Five Desire

There are two places to eat breakfast. The Arrecife Buffet equal to any breakfast buffet we have had at any restaurant or cruise ship. Or Eros restaurant which is Al La Cart from a menu which we are going try tomorrow. The beauty of two restaurants is everyone come to either place in the morning. It’s a central meeting place to make and meet your new friends. Desire is about making friends. And friends get together frequently at the place they both enjoy. It’s smart marketing.

E decided before we left MN that she wanted to go to Cozumel. So last night we looked up and found the Jet boat schedule from Playa Del Carmen and there was a boat with tickets for $40 leaving at 10 AM. The Desire staff helped us book it. We then asked about a cab to Playa Del Carmen and they said be in the lobby around 8AM, it will take 15 minutes to get a cab and by 9AM you will be at the Play Docks.

So that is exactly what we did. At 10AM we were seated in nice seats for the 30 minute Jet boat trip to Cozumel.
The trip was uneventful other than the 5 ft waves. A young lady got sick on the far side of the boat. But the Jet boat seats about 25 across so there was plenty of room and they mopped it up.

Cozumel other than packing a few more businesses on the island hasn’t changed much in 20 years. We visited Senor Frogs where our son had his first beer HE could order. We were on an NCL Cruise. Today there was six cruise ships docked. So there was all kinds of people in the town.

We had tickets, PDF tickets in our phone for 3 PM $40 each. But in actuality they are general tickets so whenever you are there and the boat has room. We had tickets for 10A and 3 PM and went at 9A and came back at 1PM. It was a good day with no issues and we left $100 for sovereigners with the local.

After back by Playa we walked through the mall and ended up at a Taxi stand. One thing you must remember when you get to Cancun when you are going to Take & Keep a picture of the front of the hotel on your phone. The driver was confused on which Desire hotel we were staying at. After scrolling a few pages I showed him the entrance sign and he said OH the Desire Rivera Maya, I know this place and off we were.

Thirty minutes and $50 later we were back at the hotel. We charged the trip on our Wells Fargo Credit card and We have not denied a charge since. We got a paper receipt to account for all our charges. We are half way through the week and our Wells Fargo account and hotel charges look exactly as they should.

We were hungry when we got back so we stopped at Eros restaurant next to the pool and had burger, fries and margaritas. After which we returned to our room and got ready for the afternoon.

An hour or so later we walked down to the Hot tub and stayed in there as 150 migrated from the pool below to the hot tub.

We are curious about the Desire Pearl resort which is a similar resort about 20 minutes away. We have been told it had an older crowd, a younger crowd, more newbie’s. Better and worse dining and customer service.

We wanted to witness the difference and tell you what we saw. We asked Desire Customer service if we could go down to Pearl, we would pay the taxi and tour Pearl for an hour and report back. We were told we would need to pay a $400 day pass to tell YOU about THEIR resort. We’ll pass  on that and may report on another resort we’ll see.

So 6:30 PM came and we dressed and went to Dinner. I wore a nice dress shirt and dress shorts. There is no daily list of what is open when. We could of reserved a restaurant at noon IF we weren’t on Cozumel. So since everything is good here we just decided to take what was available. We went to the Sallo to see if that was open. Sallo was but since I did not have long pants we could not eat their. But 50 feet away at the restaurant xxxxx was a Brazilian Dinner with six different amazing food were open for everyone, so we ate. They had a buffet with 25 items PLUS the Brazilian skewers. It was a very good meal.

We went back to our room to catch up on the You Tube News and rest from the day. Well that rest ended at 10:30 when we were awaken by Gun Fire. Gun Fire? Mexico is at war with itself. Wait is that Gun Fire? Let me wake up a bit. Do we lock the door? Do we hide? Turns out is was a neighboring hotel shooting off firework at 10:37 PM. Not even a round time like 10PM. Did I mention it was dark at 6:30PM? Well let’s see if we can bet back to sleep?

Could not sleep so we went down to the disco. There were about thirty people in the disco and another thirty in the hot tub. So we made our way back to the room. Took a couple of the Nytol ZZZZ with Tripetophan and this time an hour after the fireworks we were sleeping.

So ends day 5.
