The Trip to Cancun

Who doesn’t feel the need to run away to warm weather in Feb? Well we decided we had not gone to Cancun in twenty years so why not? We like kids on vacation. We just don’t like OTHER peoples kids on vacation. LOL… So we booked the Desire Couples resort of Cancun.

But to get to Cancun you need to first get through the MSP airport and for this trip is was Humphrey Terminal 2.

Our day started with 4:30 AM Uber. He was on time and fine. A whole lot better than the Uber app. We were supposed to get a code for pickup… didn’t happen. Then instead of driving the freeways 4AM he drove back roads. But we got to MSP Humphrey Terminal 2 in good time. Then the Uber App did not recognize the trip from our side, so I could not give him a tip or thumbs up on the app.

Terminal 2 with Sun Country can have issues. Thank you for having a competent helper at check in.

We did have a problem at TSA. We just got Global Entry and TSA Pre-check to by-pass and yes we still had to stand in lines we don’t at Terminal One the main terminal. The latest is TSA-Precheck was closed due to a government shutdown.

But thanks to E and me being bit an-l about lists and over documenting. We had no major issues getting to H2 our gate. Which was moved to Gate H4 then back to Gate H2C in an hour.

We boarded Sun Country fine. Then the captain said we had bags for someone who never made the plane. So since we were going international, his bags need to be removed from the planes before we departed. That took ten minutes.

Then the pilot said we needed to spend another ten minutes de-icing.  Which I worked on aircraft for the USAF and I understand the Bernoulli principal but I still can’t understand why they fly. Best definition I heard was from my Major in the USAF who said you put enough power on a ROCK and it will FLY. Can’t argue with that. And if the Pilot wants a de-icing I’m all for it.

So we finally got on our way to Cancun and pilot made up for our late time we left.

Cancun airport has more than tripled in size in the last twenty years. The immigration now amounts to talking briefly to an agent. We had no issues.

Since we checked no bags we did not need to the luggage carousel. So off we went to our taxis. We don’t do taxi’s often, too many variables. What we DO do is have them scheduled. We had our travel lady we saw on a Desire Hotel YouTube, schedule our transportation and yes it was flawless with our name on some guys board.

Within thirty minutes we were at our hotel Desire.
