I spent a year at Keesler Air Force Base in the heart of Dixie and Cajun country in Biloxi, MS. They have been known to do some great Cajun food down there. So when I was doing research on area restaurants and I happen upon The Cajun House on the East Bank of the U of M I said we're in!

We have been known to do our share of Fusion restaurants: Rok for its Nordic/Japanese and Sooki for it's Korean/Mexican. Well The Cajun House is known for it's Cajun/Chinese. Not exactly Biloxi, Cajun, but still.

And as we own The MN Wine Club and we taste every Friday night at North Loop Wine & Spirits before we explore a new restaurant, we like our wine. There is no wine at the Cajun House. Beer but no wine. The Cajun House also lacks table cloths. And it's just off campus where there is not a lot of big spenders so think of the atmosphere of McDonalds.

Remember the SquirrelFish from the Asian Mall at Legendary Spice we went to a few weeks ago with 1,000 items on their menu? Similar situation here, but only about 100 menu items. Maybe we are at fault for not doing better research, but it's CAJUN how bad could it be?

Well anyway we found the place just off campus and it being December 30th there was no one on campus so we had no issues finding parking once we found an area that was plowed. In we walked for our first ever Chinese/Cajun experience.

We looked through the six page menu and decided on Honey BBQ Pork and roast BBQ Pork Fried Rice. We ordered an Egg Roll which the one person customer service person kinda forgot. All the food was good, not great. and the location from downtown means in the summer we could order it after tasting our last wine and pick it up on the way home. For a night on the deck in summers.

Was it a wasted night, at $30 drinking water, no not at all. Will we go back? Maybe if I'm in the mood for Fried Squid Tentacles or Frog Legs or just for for takeout, THIS is our place!
