I was born in central WI thus I am a Packer Fan…. Kinda in the water. Beyond that we are GB Packer Owners. Yes, I paid $300 for a piece of paper which is framed by our stairwell and yes, I bought one for our Son & Daughter-in-law. So, we are in for $600 for two pieces of paper. In the Twin Cities that is something one must explain. In Packer country all you hear is cool! And though ownership is not transferable, I put our grandson & daughter on each certificate so it will pass on another generation.
What does this have to do with Twin City restaurants? Plenty! The Packers first game of the season was against the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paulo, Brazil. So, since we like to pull the TV outside to watch it on our deck, why not have Brazilian Takeout food? Perfect. Well except all the Brazilian Restaurants in the Twin Cities are sit down things on a stick. Just like the MN State FAIR! Not so much for Take out.
We thought we would compromise. We’d find something close. How about Argentinian Food? That’s easy. There are all kinds of Argentina restaurants and Boludo have five locations that have take out. Yea I know we don’t do chain restaurants, but we are in compromise mode, so we went with Boludo. Hey, it was the Packers on the Deck!
We don’t always make the best choices, but we get things done. We were on Washington at North Loop for our evening wine tasting so we chose the Boludo. Sure we would drive a few blocks from another location on Central, but hey we got it done.
We have been past a Boludo on Como Ave a dozen times.  It is on our bike ride to the Farmers Market across from Blue Door (contender for the Juicy Lucey) and Van Cleve Park about a mile north of Dinkytown.
We had everything planned we would finish our wine and then order and drive to pick up our Brazilian/Argentina food and watch the game. Well best laid plans. E tried to order on their website and for some reason our credit card did not go through. So, we ended up ordering at their restaurant, where the same credit card worked.
The people at Boludo were traditional Argentinean. Which meant we did have a little bit of a language barrier. But we ordered a salad, two empanadas and an Argentina Pizza. I normally have a picture of the paper receipt, but this was an electronic thing without what we ordered and credit card info so not this article. The Empanadas were $5 each. The Pepperoni Pizza $19 and the salad was $12. Total bill about $40, without drinks.
The Empanadas were good, the pizza was very good, even the next day. The salad was not very fresh and was forgettable. We like having new options for takeout and Boludo is different. But I don’t know that it is going to push Chipotle or Olive and Lamb or Wong’s Kitchen off our top of the list takeout. But you should try it, they were nice people with good, unusual food.
