Tonight's search for great restaurants takes us half way between Mpls & St Paul south of 94, by Randolph & Cleveland for Bar Brigade. To start off with we had a salad, bread, crab cakes, potatoes and a stewed Wild Boar. First time we ever had Wild Boar which was marinaded in wine all day. ALL the food was VERY GOOD. The potatoes were like creamy Scalloped potatoes but the potatoes were small thumb sized and simply cut in half. Some thing E will try to cook.
The place is small seating about 50 people so we were glad we had reservations which we have only done twice in our memory. We had problems finding the place due to road closures, which an email to our reservation email would have been appreciated, but we made it fine.
The area we are in has about six large colleges including: St Thomas, Mc Callester and several others. I believe had I walked in with a Trump had, you could have heard a pin drop. But I did not. The customers & wait staff are in a word eclectic. Not good or bad, it just is.
All in all Bar Brigade is a very GOOD restaurant with exceptional food. Just not a place we would regular because of where we are from. That said seeing the name of the place on a PBR sign gave me a chuckle and memories of home in WI.
This place was defined on Google as small plate French, which it is not. But none the less they have great food and great wine pours at a reasonable price. Worth a try if you want to try a restaurant in a different area.
Bar Brigade despite being a small, perhaps a bit difficult to find restaurant is worth going to. They have good serviceable great food. We had a salad, crab cakes, potatoes and wild boar, all were delicious
