Fine dining restaurant Japanese-Italian fusion restaurant serving small plates, pizza & pasta amid an industrial-chic vibe.
Tonight we are at Sanjusan.
How does one start to describe a Japanese/Italian Fusion restaurant.
First of all we are a block from the Mpls downtown Post Office next to the Hennepin Mississippi Bridge next to the Mpls Federal Reserve in the North Loop area.
When E told me Japanese/Italian Fusion Food I said sure that’s my favorite.. LOL.
So after our every Friday night Wine tasting at North Loop we drove about four blocks to eat.
They have vallet in case you have issues with downtown Mpls, which is nice. And at this place you can put it. On a credit card before you leave for a quick get away.
Like usual we told the guys we were with the band… they thought it was great.
So we had 7PM reservations on a Friday night so we are at peak time and all is calm here.
We were seated about three feet from the cooks and they were great to talk to. Though they did not know where they got the HUGE carrots they were cutting.
So we looked at the wine list. The reds list has about four choices for a glass. Which we prefer so we each can taste. A different wine.
Alana is our server’s name and she is one of the most beautiful ladies in the world. She was very nice and knew her stuff.
She explained why they would chill a certain red wine chilled. Which after 15 years in the wine industry we never heard of. It seems chilling a red brings out a different set of flavors which we agree with. Interesting thy have done such research to create the best experience for this good wine.
I ordered an 2018 Sicilian Frappato Red which was chilled. And E ordered a Asturias Spanish wine. It had a HUGE Bouquet, amazing.. but the serving glass was chosen to highlife it. My red was good but not as good as E’s.
So we were given a plate of calamari with great gravy. It was an interesting combination and good.
We ordered Prawns which can deep fried. We dipped them in the gravy too and they were good.
Lastly we had Pasta with crab & Jalapeños… it was VERY good.
We sat at the bar next to the seven cooks all working on their masterpieces. Including a pizza oven that was busy all night.
After we are done we are going upstairs to their whiskey bar and a private sushi restaurant.
Our food bill is $93 for two of us. But like usual we shared everything and it was more than enough.
Sanjusan was good. The staff and place with interesting food with great taste at a reasonable price. We’d go back.
