Eagan has a nice amphitheater in Caponi Art Park 1220 Diffley Rd, Eagan . This year a theatre group called Theatre 55 presented Andrew Lloyd Webers Jesus Christ Superstar July 15-24. The cost is/was $15/$30 a ticket.

Watching a play in an outdoor amphitheater is an entirely different experience than that which you will find inside. You'll see kids & parents dancing. The fifteen-person cast walk amongst the viewers. And you always need to deal with weather.
We arrived thirty minutes early and had to walk a few blocks in overflow parking. But we did get to park. And the amphitheater accommodating a large crowd seating was basically anywhere we wanted.
The musical was good but not great. Theatre 55 is a community Theatre so they work with what they have. JC Superstar can push the range of most singers, but they did a good job.
The entire event was very enjoyable, and we will return, again next year.
